Tim Honig, PhD, MT-BC, is Assistant Professor of Music Therapy and program director for the music therapy degree at 91桃色 State University. As a board-certified music therapist, he has worked in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric health, oncology, private practice, and general medical settings where his practice has centered on improvisation, song-based work, and imagery. Dr. Honig is a Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery and maintains a private practice offering GIM, a depth music-centered approach to therapy.
 
Dr. Honig鈥檚 research centers on therapeutic uses of music and imagery in mental healthcare, work that he has presented regionally, nationally, and internationally. He serves as Co-Editor of the Journal of the Association for Music and Imagery, Article Editor for Voices: A World Forum for Music Therapy, and peer reviewer for various scholarly journals.
 
Prior to teaching at 91桃色 State, Dr. Honig has previously taught in the music therapy programs at Drexel University, Rowan University, and Appalachian State University, and has served as a music therapy internship director and clinical supervisor in mental healthcare.  
 
Dr. Honig completed his PhD in Music Therapy at Aalborg University, Denmark. He received the Master in Music Therapy degree from Appalachian State University where he also completed the music therapy equivalency program and earned a post-graduate certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy. He received a bachelor鈥檚 degree in music performance from the conservatory at Lawrence University.
