The Graduate Certificate in Public Healthcare Administration prepares students with healthcare backgrounds to effectively respond to public healthcare policy and programming needs in order to help build healthy communities. Students will develop sought-after management and leadership skills including: teamwork and collaboration; program development; performance management; research; strategic planning; communications.
The certificate is designed for individuals who:
- Are healthcare managers who seek advanced learning in the study of management and leadership; and/or
- Are employed in a nonprofit or government health services organization and are preparing for a career in healthcare administration.
The Graduate Certificate in Public Healthcare Administration is affordable, responsive to local workforce needs and accessible to working part-time commuting students. Courses are offered during our Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters. All in-person and hybrid courses meet in the evening, and it is possible to complete the certificate online.
If accepted into the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, credits earned through the Graduate Certificate in Public Healthcare Administration program may be applied toward an MPA.
Admission Requirements
Students applying for the graduate certificate must have a bachelor鈥檚 degree with a minimum grade point average of B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) in the last two years of undergraduate study from an accredited institution is required.
Graduate admissions tests such as the GRE or MAT will not be required for the certificate program. However, a satisfactory GRE or MAT score is recommended if it will strengthen the application if the student wishes to transfer from the graduate certificate program into the Public Administration graduate program (Master of Public Administration).
